Alexis Slaninka - Step By Step Life Coaching

I am a native of Rochester, New York and live with my husband and two children. I have over ten (10) years of experience working as a counselor. As a School Counselor, I have experience working with students and their families in their academic, personal and college/career path. Currently, I am employed as a counselor at an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). I have fulfilled this role for the past eight (8) years. My role within this position has allowed me to work with individuals, families, adolescents and children in a supportative setting. Establishing a working relationship with my clients, making assessments, providing counseling services, making referrals and follow-up contacts is a large part of my role.

I have my master's degree in Counseling and Human Development from the University of Rochester. I have my bachelor degree in Psychology from SUNY Brockport College. I am currently enrolled in the Mentor Coach Foundations training program.

I have achieved a life balance that has included raising my family, continuing my education and expanding my professional profile as a Life Coach. I am continually learning more about my field through professional development to best support my role as a coach.

As a coach, I specialize in working with individuals who are facing a transition in their lives. Making a transition of any kind has an important and lasting impact in your life. As a college student with little to no direction in which career path to follow, I struggled with academics, motivation and direction. I eventually worked through this transition and found my passion within the counseling field. I have personally experienced hardships and challenges throughout my own transitional stages in life. Reflecting back, I am grateful for the personal and professional growth that I have endured during these stages of my life.

Once I graduated from college, graduate school and started working as a counselor, I knew deep down that something was still missing. I truly enjoy working with my clients and helping them work through their issues as they heal from their past and present experiences. However, I also want to focus on the possibilities within my clients, the gifts/talents/treasures they never knew existed. Taking the next steps toward discovering their gifts/talents/treasures and using them to move forward in their life is my new passion. I heard about coaching and immediately was pulled into a new career path, that still helps people, but moves them from a place of survival to a place of thriving within any and all areas of their life.

As a mother, wife, daughter and sister, I also can understand and appreciate the hardships that people experience while trying to balance all that they are faced with on a daily basis.

My interests and hobbies include: martial arts, kickboxing, walking, traveling, cooking, baking and spending time with family and friends.
